You will work closely with teams across the organization, coordinating activities ranging from product introductions and phase-outs to continuous improvement projects and cost-saving initiatives. In this position, you will play a key role in ensuring that projects progress efficiently and deliver results. You will join the Product Engineering team and report to the Product Engineering Manager, becoming part of the Smart Power organization in Västerås, Sweden. The unit is part of ABB Electrification and is responsible for developing, manufacturing, marketing, and selling low-voltage products for which ABB has global responsibility. These products include large contactors, soft starters, pilot devices, and safety products. In this role, you will be responsible for the industrialization of products in accordance with technical specifications throughout both the product development phase and the active product lifecycle. You will support cross-functional teams, drive implementation activities, and contribute to the development and continuous improvement of processes and ways of working within the function. Your role and responsibilities Coordinate and drive collaboration within the team, as well as with local and global stakeholders. Take ownership of Active Product Management (APM) activities, leading projects and initiatives throughout the product lifecycle, both before and after product release. Develop and continuously improve Product Engineering processes and ways of working, strengthening collaboration between agile development teams, manufacturing units, and manufacturing functions. Support R&D teams by ensuring manufacturability is considered throughout the product design and development process. Define, implement, and maintain manufacturing-related procedures and standards, including PPAP, Tool Management, and Direct Cost Definition. Foster clear ownership, accountability, and effective execution of activities within the team. Ensure a strong understanding of internal and external customer needs, driving customer value, managing expectations, and supporting high levels of customer satisfaction. Manage and maintain product certifications, ensuring compliance with relevant requirements and standards. Act as a product expert, collaborating cross-functionally to provide technical support related to product functionality, design, and industrialization. Drive and support product optimization initiatives, focusing on quality, manufacturability, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement. Qualifications for the role University degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent Fluent in Swedish and English, both written and spoken Experience with tools such as MS Office, PPAP, DFM, DFA, and PLM Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification You are a self-driven and goal-oriented individual with a positive and proactive mindset. Vi söker en Lead Mechanical Design Engineer till ett högteknologiskt industriföretag i Västerås. I rollen får du ett tekniskt helhetsansvar inom verktygskonstruktion, där specialanpassade verktyg och utrustningar utvecklas för demontering och hantering i komplexa industriella miljöer. Du leder konstruktionsarbetet framåt, stöttar övriga konstruktörer och säkerställer att tekniska lösningar håller rätt nivå vad gäller funktion, hållfasthet, säkerhet och tillverkningsbarhet. Du arbetar genom hela kedjan – från koncept och tekniska vägval till detaljkonstruktion, prototyp, test, tillverkning och färdig produkt. Arbetet sker nära projektledning, tekniker och produktion. Du är praktiskt lagd, lösningsorienterad och trygg i att fatta och förankra tekniska beslut. Du har erfarenhet av mekanisk konstruktion och tillverkningsnära design samt god förståelse för material, hållfasthet och tillverkningsmetoder. Erfarenhet från tung industri är särskilt relevant. Kunskap inom exempelvis hydraulik, svetsade konstruktioner eller verktygskonstruktion är meriterande. Vi ser gärna att du tidigare har haft en roll som Lead Engineer, Technical Lead, Lead Designer eller motsvarande, alternativt är en erfaren konstruktör som är redo att ta nästa steg med ett större tekniskt ansvar. Engelska är ett krav och svenska är en fördel. Rollen omfattas av exportkontroll. Varför söka?
