The opportunity As a Senior Mechanical Plant Design Engineer within Plant mechanical, you will work in a collaborative engineering environment where problem‑solving, learning, and sound technical judgement are key. Within Plant Engineering, this role covers several disciplines, including electrical, mechanical, civil, and structural engineering, with a primary focus on mechanical design. Knowledge of other engineering areas is an advantage. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to HVDC station design through engineering design, planning, risk assessments, resource coordination, and technical project execution. How you’ll make an impact Lead mechanical plant design activities for complex HVDC projects, ensuring high-quality multidisciplinary engineering coordination. Develop robust and cost-effective technical solutions in line with customer requirements, contracts, budgets, and schedules. Drive engineering deliverables within your area of expertise and provide technical support during testing, installation, and commissioning. Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and risk mitigation practices throughout the project lifecycle. Prepare work plans, cost estimates, and engineering schedules, and support scope and budget reviews. Collaborate closely with project teams, tender teams, customers, contractors, authorities, and supply chain partners. Independently manage technical activities, solve complex engineering challenges, and support project execution with limited supervision. Mentor and review the work of junior engineers while contributing to technical development and best practices within the team. Your background We know that no candidate meets every requirement. Ideally, you bring: Experience in mechanical plant design, including preparation of documents and design concepts aligned with customer needs, relevant standards, and internal guidelines. Knowledge of electrical power transformation systems is beneficial but not mandatory. Experience or interest in 3D modeling of equipment layouts and close collaboration with internal teams and external partners. Experience and/or knowledge in BIM coordination between external and internal partners. Familiarity with cost estimates like bill of quantities and engineering hours. Experience with CAD tools such as Siemens NX, Revit, and PLM systems like Teamcenter is beneficial, and we support further learning and development where needed. R&D Mechanical Engineer HVDC Windings

For our HVDC Transformers research and development team we are looking for a R&D mechanical engineer in the field of Transformer Winding/Active part technology. You will lead activities to improve transformer winding/active part performance, design and manufacturing methods while challenging legacy routines and developing better suited concepts for the future. The role will cooperate closely with experts in different transformer technology fields as well as with transformer design and manufacturing specialists globally. You will build and maintain a network with the HVDC Transformer factories globally, collecting the inputs and supporting implementation of new development. Working in R&D will give you the possibility to use your creativity to solve a wide spectrum of challenges. You will have exciting and varied work in front of you where you will get a broad network internally and externally. Work with both the local factory and the global organization within Transformers and have career development opportunities as a Specialist or as a Project Manager. Your responsibilities Creating conceptual designs of Transformer windings to meet specified requirements (functional, technical, quality, etc). Ability to create detailed design and 3D modeling as well as running mechanical verifications using simulation tools. Running Design for Excellence practices (DFA, DFM, FMEA, etc.). Preparing reports and related documents in accordance with internal and external requirements. Technical standards: Ensure that winding-related processes and calculation methods are state of the art. Work with programmers to implement and test new methods in the design software. Technical support: Support the design, manufacturing, quality and supply chain organizations with technical expertise to ensure that technical requirements are fulfilled. Technical leadership and knowledge sharing: Coach and provide support and technical advice to colleagues on winding-related topics. Maintain a network of engineering professionals to share best practices across different disciplines and the HVDC Transformer factories. Your background Master’s or Bachelor’s degree combined with work-life experience in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. 3+ Years of experience in Design & Engineering.
