Experienced Embedded Developer to SATCUBE

Karlstad·Civilingenjör, systemutveckling

At SATCUBE, we build the satellite terminals that keep communication alive when nothing else works - for military operations, civil defence, and disaster response across Europe. No downtime. No compromise. We don't buy in black-box components and stitch them together. We design our own hardware and software end to end - from the antenna system, through secure boot and the Linux/RTOS stack, all the way to the application layer our operators depend on in the field. The team is small enough that everyone's fingerprints are on the final product: your kernel patch, your driver, your security decision ends up in a terminal deployed somewhere it actually matters. We're looking for an experienced embedded systems developer ready to also step into a tech lead role for a team of 7 engineers - someone who wants deep technical ownership and the chance to shape how a team works, reporting into and working closely with our CTO. Key Responsibilities You'll work across the full stack we own - from bootloader to application software to the update pipeline that keeps devices secure in the field - with the autonomy to make real architectural decisions. Design and maintain our Yocto-based Linux distribution for ARM devices - kernel, user-space, and bootloader Develop and maintain device tree configurations and drivers, integrating a wide range of peripherals and hardware interfaces. Develop real-time applications that run on dedicated microcontrollers using Zephyr RTOS, and implement the interface with the Linux system. Design and develop the application software layer using Rust. Implement and maintain OTA update infrastructure - safe updates, rollback mechanisms, long-term maintainability of devices in the field. Design and maintain the boot chain and secure boot architecture, ensuring trusted firmware execution and reliable device startup. Design, implement, and operate CI/CD pipelines for firmware build, test, and release. Troubleshoot system-level issues across hardware, kernel, and OS layers. Design and maintain the assembly-line flashing and provisioning system - automated firmware flashing, device identity provisioning, factory diagnostics. Work closely with the CTO to prioritize roadmaps and lead the team's technical direction. Work closely with hardware engineers on board bring-up, hardware validation, and debugging. Required Qualifications B.Sc. / M.Sc. Computer Science or comparable Extensive experience working with embedded architectures, including cross-compilation, debugging, and performance optimization. Strong knowledge of Yocto, the Linux kernel, embedded device drivers, device tree configuration and u-boot. Experience with real-time systems and RTOS (e.g. Zephyr). Strong experience in Rust and/or C. Experience with GNU tools, Debian/Ubuntu-based systems, systemd and Docker. Knowledge of OTA updates (e.g. ostree). Solid networking fundamentals - IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, TLS, VPNs, and hardware-layer interfaces Strong embedded security knowledge, such as secure boot on embedded devices, boot chain verification, and encryption mechanisms. Experience with low-level communication interfaces, such as I2C, SPI, UART, and CAN bus. A product-oriented mindset, with an eagerness to drive forward project initiatives Knowledge of the latest software architecture principles and practices in embedded software It would be beneficial if you also have Experience with NXP i.MX8 platforms and their associated BSP packages Previous contributions to open-source projects, especially in the Linux ecosystem. Experience with Cl/CD systems, such as Jenkins, GitHub actions, GitLab Cl. Who we think you are We believe that you are a go-to-person in the team where you work today or have worked previously. Your colleagues always trust you to come with additional perspectives on problems and you tend to be the leader of the technical challenges. You communicate easily with people with different experience and background and handle giving and receiving personal feedback already but wish to develop your leadership skills further. You communicate fluently in English. Swedish is a bonus, not a requirement. What we offer An opportunity to work with very interesting technology in a small, senior team, where your contributions are critical. Our work culture is based on trusting our employees to being engaged in meeting our customers’ needs and delivering best in class products. We are a growing team of highly competent and friendly colleagues, and we focus on creating a nice and warm atmosphere in the office where you should be able to grow both personally and professionally. Satcube is located at Kungsgatan in Göteborg. We believe in being innovative together and therefore we are looking for candidates that are already based in Gothenburg. If you are not, please specify both if you are willing to relocate and the time-frame required. About the recruitment process If you think you would be a match for this position, please apply by the 18th of August at the latest. As a final candidate, you can expect us to conduct thorough background checks, to secure the information security of our clients. Staff Engineer, Consumer domain

Stockholm·Civilingenjör, systemutveckling

We're building tomorrow's delivery platform At Instabee, we're on a mission to become the undisputed #1 delivery service in the eyes of our consumers. We need exceptional engineers to help us get there. We're looking for a Staff Engineer who can bridge the gap between ambitious business goals and technical execution. Someone who identifies opportunities, builds the right solutions, and raises the bar for everyone around them. The role You will be embedded in one of our Consumer teams, the part of Instabee that sits closest to real users and real deliveries. This is a hands-on role where you will spend most of your time building, not reviewing architectural slide decks. Your job is ensuring we're building the right things, in the right way, at the right scale. Aside from the work within the team, you will be part of a community of Staff Engineers working on cross-organisation projects and challenges. You'll help translate business ambition into engineering execution, surface hard problems before they become expensive ones, and actively drive the engineering culture at Instabee by raising the bar, sharing knowledge, and making the organisation better at building software. What you'll do Ship things users notice Identify and build features that move the needle on user satisfaction. You'll own problems from idea to production, together with your team. Keep the team unblocked Spot friction before it becomes a bottleneck. That might mean improving test setup, fixing a flaky deploy pipeline, or untangling a service boundary that's slowing everyone down. Make technical trade-offs explicit Help the team choose solutions that are good enough now and don't paint us into a corner later. Scale and velocity both matter, and your job is to hold both at once. Connect code to outcomes Help engineers understand why what they're building matters. Work with Product and Data to make sure our systems produce the signals we need to make good decisions. Raise the bar around you Coach engineers, share what you know, and push for a culture where we learn from mistakes instead of hiding them. What we're looking for You don't need to be an expert in everything your team touches, but you should care deeply about succeeding together as a team. You're a doer. You don't just think about problems; you solve them. You're a technical leader who has built web and app (ideally consumer facing) solutions at scale, and can move fluidly between deep technical dives and high-level architectural trade-offs. You're strategic and pragmatic. You know that perfect is the enemy of good. You favor iteration, deliver value early and often, and ship before you have the ideal solution. You're a communicator and collaborator. You make complex technical concepts accessible to non-technical partners and thrive in cross-functional environments where engineering, product, and business move together. You're a quality advocate who holds a high bar for stability and security, without killing the pace of innovation. If this sounds like the kind of challenge you'd wake up excited to tackle, we'd love to hear from you. What You'll Get We can promise you'll be challenged, develop your skills, and work with truly amazing and competent colleagues. If you like change and want to set new processes and ways of working — this is the place for you. Of course, we have all the standard benefits in place. But beyond that, we also offer: 🌇 Sky-High Office — Modern and newly renovated with 360-degree views across Stockholm 🐶 Puppy Friendly — Bring your dog to work (we've got a whole floor for our furry friends) 🏓 Fun & Games — Ping pong, shuffleboard, foosball, and a karaoke room 👶 Six Months Parental Pay — Step away and give your little one the care they deserve 🎂 Your Birthday Off — Celebrate yourself with a day off each year ⏰ Hybrid & Flexible — Work the way that works for you Our Commitment to You Diversity and inclusion are at the heart of who we are. We're committed to creating an inclusive work environment where everyone's perspectives are valued and every employee has the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential. Next Steps This role requires a background check via Svensk Bakgrundsanalys, which includes a review of public criminal records. The results are handled confidentially as part of our standard recruitment process in Sweden. Please note that we are on holiday during July and will be starting to look at resumés first week of August. Ready to join us? We'd love to hear how you think about technical leadership and what excites you about solving logistics at scale.
